This update was originally sent via email on September 27, 2018.
INAUGURAL EDITION With the association's growth in recent years, it's gotten harder to keep track of our many activities. Through this new monthly resource, we will highlight important initiatives and available opportunities. In This Issue:
SEEKING PATHOLOGY EXPERIENCES FOR STUDENTSDeadline: Monday, 10/01/2018 Does your department have a pathology training opportunity for high school, college, post-bacs, or even PSFs for medical students? Now through October 1st, we are collecting basic program information on our survey at surveymonkey.com/r/PathologyOpportunities. We will compile and post this free listing for students on the APC website: apcprods.org/opportunities with the hopes of exposing students across the nation to pathology experiences in your lab. SUBMIT ABSTRACTS & DISCUSSION GROUP PROPOSALS FOR APC 2019Deadline: Monday, 12/03/2018 The overarching theme of the APC 2019 Annual Meeting is Innovation through Collective Excellence: Shaping the Future of Pathology. The Program Steering Committee and Section Councils are currently identifying topics and potential speakers for the annual meeting. In the meantime, get involved in enhancing the educational program by submitting an abstract for poster presentation and/or a proposal for a Discussion Group session at apcprods.org/m-2019-agenda. As plans for 2019 develop, we will continue to post updates at apcprods.org/m-2019. SOCIETY OF ’67 PROGRAMSOpen Access Awards waive the publication fee for an accepted article in Academic Pathology written by a medical student, pathology resident or fellow, or junior faculty initially based on an abstract of the manuscript to be written. Healthcare Innovation Grants will be awarded later this year for up to five projects that address issues of healthcare quality, costs, and/or access related to pathology services. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal based on Letters of Intent that are currently being screened by the Society of ’67 Board. Learn more about the Society of ’67 and donate to support and sustain its programs.
