APC's Pathology Leadership Academy

Designed to build and strengthen leadership skills and knowledge for current and future leaders in academic pathology, the January 2022 PLA will focus on managing change, resiliency, personal development for leadership, and interviewing skills. The PLA will be held January 15-16, 2022 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, AZ. Attendees may participate in person or remotely via Zoom. To maintain the small-group quality of past PLAs, overall attendance will be capped at 65 registrants. Please encourage your promising faculty to apply for the January 2022 PLA to develop their academic leadership potential! See complete application and program details below.

Eligibility*

Applicants must:

  1. Be an APC Pathology Leadership Fellow* -or- a faculty member in an APC member Department of Pathology.
  2. Have a minimum of three years' experience in an academic Department of Pathology, or comparable practice or management experience in a healthcare field.
  3. Have demonstrated professional leadership potential by virtue of their accomplishments.

Note: People without the credentials above may be considered based upon additional information provided on the registration form. Registrations that are not approved will be refunded.

Application Process & Requirements*

  1. Applications will be accepted until December 17, 2021 (or until sold out). Applications, including a PDF of the applicant’s CV, must be submitted through the online application/registration form. Applications must be complete to be considered.
  2. Tuition is $1,095. All meals will be provided for in-person attendees. Attendees' hotel stays are not included in tuition; APC has secured a discounted hotel rate of $405/night (single) or $430/night (double) - Includes one night single or double room, fees, and taxes; excludes parking; no resort fees apply
  3. Applicants' acceptance will be confirmed by email on a rolling basis within 3 business days of application.

*Note: For APLF fellows, eligibility has been pre-determined and the PLA registration fee was paid as part of your APLF program fee. You will complete the registration process to select your arrival and departure dates (for the hotel reservation) and to provide other essential in-person information. For APLF fellows attending in-person, only hotel fees will be invoiced. APLF fellows may register to attend remotely at NO additional fee, but are strongly encouraged to attend in-person to maximize their APLF program experience.

The fee includes, for the registered attendee only:

  • Access to PLA Workshop Sessions and recordings;
  • Dinner on Saturday, January 15th;
  • Breakfast, lunch, and breaks on Sunday, January 16th.

The Hotel Accommodations Include:

  • ONE Hotel Night - arriving Saturday 1/15, departing Sunday 1/16
  • OPTIONAL: Extra person in hotel room (NOT attending PLA meals or events); Indicate "Double" on the hotel reservation
  • OPTIONAL (additional fee): Extra hotel night(s) at group rate

  • Briefly describe your responsibilities in your current position, especially those in which you play a leadership role.
  • What are your specific 5-year career goals? Be as concrete as possible.

  • For non-eligible registrants only, briefly detail your interest in the PLA program.
