NOTEWORTHY UPDATES

UMEDS has launched the “UMEDS Toolbox” for easy online access to materials of interest that have been presented in the UMEDS program at previous APC annual meetings. This new resource for searching presentation files within the “UMEDS Toolbox List of Resources” is available only to members (UMEDS and members of all APC Sections) and is password-protected. Resources from the APC 2019 meeting will be available in the Toolbox later this fall! Access to the Landing Page for the Toolbox is reached by logging in with your membership credentials at the following url: www.apcprods.org/umeds-toolbox

  • This brings you to the UMEDS Toolbox List of Resources, a comprehensive directory searchable by multiple parameters that can be sorted and filtered as desired.
  • Each presentation has been assigned to topical categories that facilitate searches.
  • The UMEDS Toolbox files are hosted in a Dropbox folder and are accessible online from any location and any internet-connected device.
  • Once the presentation(s) of interest have been identified in the List of Resources, PDFs of the PowerPoint presentations and posters may be found in file folders, organized by year of presentation, in the UMEDS Toolbox.

GMEAS members have established a new Coordinator Distinguished Service Award for a GMEAS member who has shown exemplary engagement and commitment to the field of medical education. Visit: www.apcprods.org/m-awards for more details and criteria for eligibility and nominations. Award Nominations for ALL AWARDS are due every December, but nominations are accepted any time (and nominees stay in consideration for 3 years from submission)!

SECTION LISTSERV RULES

Just as a refresher to use discretion when posting messages to listservs of the APC. All APC listservs are intended for the professional development of APC members. Review the APC listserv information and policies posted at: www.apcprods.org/m-lists.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Job Postings: Individuals in any Section may post a job announcement directly. However, the job must be directly related to the member’s home institution or program. Keep in mind to include the email address to which respondents should directly reply. Remember: For these and other job announcements, APC has a paid Job Board online, which has broad national visibility – see https://careers.apcprods.org/.
  • Surveys/Polls: Surveys or polls from members, working groups or organizations outside the APC membership must first be discussed and approved by the Section Council(s) to whose members the survey will be directed. Surveys are evaluated based on relevancy to the member constituents, quality of the survey questions, and willingness of the survey authors to provide Councils with access to data collected and prior review of any publications resulting from the survey data. References to APC members as participants in surveys will only be permitted with expressed prior permission of the APC Executive Office. Survey/poll approval inquiries may be directed either to the APC Office at [email protected] or directly to the relevant Section Council Chair(s).
  • Advertising: Commercial Communications Vetting Process: Every effort will be made to maintain member communications, via listservs or other print or electronic means, that are free of commercial bias.  Only communications that are educational in nature or that enable members to make informed product decisions will be accepted for distribution using the Association’s membership communication mechanisms. In general, the Executive Director will have the authority to determine the acceptability of material for distribution to members.
