APC E-NEWS:

October 2019

Important Updates from APC:

OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRAINEES

  • NEW and FREE list of open pathology fellowship positions! To support fellowship programs with unexpected and unfilled openings, the Fellowship Directors Ad Hoc Committee (FDAHC) of the APC recommended establishing a FREE list of OPEN fellowship positions: www.apcprods.org/fellowship-openings. Pathology Subspecialty Fellowship Program Directors and Program Coordinators can post fellowship openings on this dynamic listing for FREE! We encourage members to bookmark and disseminate this webpage to trainees for the latest updates for fellowship openings.

  • PIPELINE DEVELOPMENT FUNDING: Utilize the one-stop “shopping” matrix of funding resources and opportunities for the pathologist pipeline valued at thousands of dollars! Check out the compilation of resources and opportunities among pathology organizations produced by the Pipeline Development Council: www.apcprods.org/pipeline-development. Share with your medical students, residents, and fellows the many opportunities and awards, such as conference travel, poster, and presentation awards, research grants, and publication awards.

CALLS FOR APC 2020 (July 19-22): Submission Deadline: Monday, December 9, 2019

  • CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: APC members, their faculty, staff, trainees, and other stakeholders are invited to submit abstracts for poster presentation. Abstracts should describe innovations (technology, programs, projects, etc.) or multi-disciplinary collaborations that advance research, education, practice, administration or diversity in an academic environment. See details at: www.apcprods.org/m-meetings-2020
  • CALL FOR DISCUSSION GROUP PROPOSALS: Do you have answers to a perplexing challenge in academic pathology? Or perhaps you want to hear how other colleagues are addressing issues at their institutions? Consider submitting a proposal for organizing and moderating a 90-minute Discussion Group (DG) at APC 2020, now being accepted from members of all Sections of the APC! DGs are conversational sessions (not didactic) intended to engage the target attendees in ways that will enable them to leave the session knowing more about the topic. See details at: www.apcprods.org/m-meetings-2020

APC/SECTION LISTSERV TIPS AND REMINDERS

  • TIP: In your signature, consider spelling out your email address so that others can reply directly to you (after deleting the listserv email address) rather than using “reply to all,” if the content of the email message is more personal, non-informative, or unrelated to the discussion thread.
  • TIP: Did you know that you are able to access past discussion threads? Click “View My Profile” under the “Home” menu tab on the APC homepage, and log in. Then, click “E-Lists” under the “My Features” tab. The listserv(s) to which you are subscribed is listed, and by clicking that, you can search with a key term to find past discussion threads!
  • REMINDER: Only APC/Section members can send and receive listserv messages to which they are subscribed. Remember that the purpose of these listservs is to enhance your professional development through your respective peers. Visit the rules of engagement posted at: www.apcprods.org/m-lists. If you have colleagues who are interested in getting access to the listserv, they must be eligible for APC/Section membership. Encourage them to apply at: www.apcprods.org/m-join-apc-2 after reviewing eligibility requirements.
