APC OPENS NEW BENCHMARKING PLATFORM

It’s not too late to enter your data and have access to the results!

The 2022 Academic Pathology Faculty and Administrators Compensation Benchmarking Survey is the first of its kind undertaken by the Association of Pathology Chairs, designed to confidentially collect data from participating departments and transform it into a member-interrogated reporting system, when the data collection period is closed.

Rather than reporting data once as a static presentation at the annual meeting or other venue, benchmarking data will be available to participating departments (completing more than 50% of the questions) throughout the year and anonymized results will be sortable by a variety of self-selected metrics.  APC expects this new survey platform to provide true added value to members as you seek useful comparative regional and national data to assist in recruitment, retention, and discussions with institutional leadership.

Privileged access to the 2022 Academic Pathology Faculty and Administrators Compensation Benchmarking data will be opened to participating departments after an initial status report and a brief demonstration is provided at the Annual Meeting in July 2023.

Access instructions to the online survey site were sent to APC Chair Members and APEX (PDAS) members in May. If you did not receive this email, please contact the APC Office at [email protected].

WHAT'S NEW IN ACADEMIC PATHOLOGY

Academic Pathology is APC's fully open-access, PubMed-indexed, peer-reviewed journal and part of the world-class collection of journals and pathology resources published by Elsevier, with visibility to a global audience of academic leaders through Science Direct and Clinical Key. Academic Pathology will soon reach another major milestone when it receives its first journal impact factor – one more reason to submit your manuscript to APC’s official journal!

Pathology Competencies for Medical Education (PCME)
An updated Version of the PCME will be released in July!
The Pathology Competencies for Medical Education were created by pathology chairs and course directors to serve as a national standard identifying the core content for teaching pathology in three basic competencies: disease mechanisms, integration of disease mechanisms into organ system pathology, and application of pathology to diagnostic medicine. Each competency includes learning goals and objectives to assess the acquisition, integration and application of knowledge to demonstrate the development of competency. Educational cases are being developed to highlight key teaching points of the learning objectives of the three competencies and clinical thinking. Click here to learn more and view the updated version coming soon!
