Vice Chairs for Research Affinity Group

Purpose

The AAPath Council has created a new Vice Chairs for Research Affinity Group to better serve and support the academic research mission of Pathology departments. This Affinity Group is for the research faculty leader in the Pathology department who is appointed by the department Chair. The group will be co-led by Dr. Edwin Monuki (Univ of California, Irvine) and Dr. Yabing Chen (Oregon Health & Science Univ), and will initially meet virtually on a bi-monthly basis and will be overseen by the AAPath Research Committee. 

The AAPath Vice Chairs for Research Affinity Group aims to:

• Create a network connecting the designated Research representative (such as Vice Chairs) from academic pathology departments. 
• Generate a discussion of common topics/issues to understand better and discuss how to address them.
• Publish papers on projects from the group's activities.

Appointment Process

Department Chairs can submit their Research faculty leader name via this online form by December 2nd to be included in the first virtual meeting later in December or January 2025:
